Burning fat fast: pepper, vitamins, and oxygen
The most important helpers for active fat burning
In this part of the method, Michael’s aim is to raise the metabolic rate in the cells. For that, he relied on five things:
- Ground black pepper
- B vitamins
- Fat-soluble vitamins
- Micellized omega-3
- Q10
How pepper drives fat burning
Ground black pepper drives the burning of carbohydrates and fats in the body. The effect is the same as in people with an elevated metabolic rate.
I bet you know people like that: No matter what they eat, they don’t gain weight. They have an elevated metabolic rate, a natural fast-burner metabolism, so to speak. And it’s exactly this state that you can mimic with enough black pepper.
For this, Michael added a teaspoon of ground black pepper to his vegetable skillet at lunch and again in the evening. He also added enough cream or sour cream to mellow the heat so it wouldn’t irritate the stomach. You’ll find the exact amounts in the meal plan.
Why vitamins and oxygen are important for fat burning
For the mitochondria, the powerhouses of the cells, to be able to burn carbohydrates and fats, they need three things:
- B vitamins, which are water-soluble,
- fat-soluble vitamins
- and enough oxygen.
It’s only when all three are present that the energy the body needs to function is created. The micellized, meaning water-soluble, omega-3 helps transport the fat-soluble vitamins better. In the mitochondria, Q10 is an integral part of burning fat and sugar. If there’s too little Q10, the burning slows down. There’s more on this on the Helpful Nutrients page.
But burning also produces lactic acid as a natural waste product, and the body has to get rid of it. For that, it needs enough minerals. The Over-Acidification page explains why that’s so important.
